CCPA relies on Sustell™ and environmental modeling to accelerate the decarbonization of animal production sectors

In a context of climate transition and increasing regulatory and societal expectations, animal production sectors must be able to demonstrate their greenhouse gas emission reduction efforts in a robust and transparent manner. The carbon trajectories of agri-food stakeholders, SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) commitments, and the development of environmental labeling reinforce the need for reliable, comparable, and directly usable data.

Measure to act with Sustell™

To support its clients in their decarbonization efforts, CCPA Group has been relying since 2024 on SustellTM, an environmental modeling tool developed by dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health and based on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, in line with international standards (FAO, PEF).

This tool enables the assessment of environmental impacts at the farm gate by integrating the entire production system: feed, zootechnical performance, farming practices, and other inputs.

Transform data into action levers

CCPA Group’s objective is to make environmental modeling a true decision support tool to support the decarbonization of animal production sectors while avoiding pollution transfers.

Through Sustell®, CCPA Group is able to:

By combining nutritional expertise, zootechnical innovation, knowledge of farming systems, and environmental modeling, CCPA Group supports its clients in identifying and quantifying optimization levers. The scenarios developed by its technical & R&I teams enable a carbon footprint reduction of up to 15% (kg CO₂eq / kg of animal product at the farm gate).

The decarbonization of animal production sectors is primarily based on the ability to measure in order to act. Through environmental modeling, we help our clients objectively assess the impact of their nutritional and technical choices to identify the most effective levers for reconciling environmental, economic, and zootechnical performance.

Anticipate tomorrow’s expectations

By offering customized scenarios combining a reference tool and its expertise in livestock farming, nutrition, and digital solutions, CCPA Group supports its clients in their decarbonization actions with a clear ambition: to make environmental performance a sustainable competitive advantage.

Beyond identifying improvement levers, generating reliable environmental data is a major challenge to support sector decarbonization trajectories, strengthen the credibility of environmental labeling for animal products, and ensure transparent and verifiable information for consumers.

Solutions with demonstrated impacts

Several nutritional solutions developed by CCPA, such as Turboviv®, Feedstim Dairy®, and Butirex C4, have already undergone life cycle assessments validated by a third party.

The results obtained show measured reductions in climate impact:

This data provides concrete elements that clients can integrate into their own carbon footprint reduction efforts.
