Through the SCAN scientific partnership, the CCPA Group, Lallemand Animal Nutrition, and Irset are combining their expertise to better understand the effects and activity of nutritional active ingredients on the health and performance of livestock. This collaboration combines industrial expertise and academic research around advanced cellular models developed by Irset.
Hosted within Irset – Research Institute for Environmental and Occupational Health (University of Rennes / INSERM / EHESP) – the “Membrane and Metabolic Stress” technical platform provides the SCAN partnership with specific cellular models, developed and validated by its scientists.
These models allow for the rapid, robust, and reproducible study of complex interactions between nutrition, immunity, and metabolism, and a better understanding and comparison of the impact of nutritional active ingredients on animal performance.
This collaboration aims to strengthen the research and innovation capabilities of CCPA and Lallemand Animal Nutrition, while pooling resources dedicated to the development of experimental models. It paves the way for the development of new generations of high-value-added nutritional solutions, supporting more innovative, sustainable animal nutrition based on robust scientific evidence.
For CCPA, the SCAN partnership enriches an experimental ecosystem already structured around its monogastric nutrition research stations, Euronutrition in France and Sanuren in Mexico, as well as its international network of reference farms.
As part of the Enhanced Nutrition CCPA concept, this partnership offers a unique capacity for exploring, characterizing, and understanding the biological modes of action of compounds of interest, particularly plant-based active ingredients present in raw materials.
It also opens new perspectives for the recovery of plant industry co-products by revealing the functional potential of still under-exploited active ingredients.
By providing solid scientific foundations for formulating more functional nutritional solutions, SCAN contributes to improving the robustness, performance, and sustainability of livestock systems.
Through the SCAN partnership, we are reaching a key milestone in our innovation strategy. It allows us to characterize the modes of action of nutritional active ingredients very early on and to understand, on robust scientific grounds, the interactions between nutrition, metabolism, and immunity.
