Metro Vancouver Opts for Lined Concrete Pipe Sanitary Sewers

Significant amounts of concrete pipe were used to develop the main sanitary sewer system throughout the Lower Mainland of the Greater Vancouver beginning in 1914. Some of the larger interceptors, which service significant areas of the surrounding municipalities, were cast-in-place in the late 1960s and early 70s to newly costructed treatment plants. Continued rapid growth over the past twenty-five years of the municipalities that make up Metro Vancouver has placed substantial demand on the existing sewer infrastructure. Because of its longevity, ease of installation and local availability, concrete pipe remains the backbone of Metro Vancouver’s sanitary sewerage system. Read more...Click here.

Services

The British Columbia Chapter was established to serve as an information source for locally produced concrete pipe and alternative drainage products. The Technical Resource Engineer (TRE) is available to specifiers, regulators, designers, educators and contractors to provide engineering assistance in the design of practical solutions for sewers and culverts. The engineer works closely with concrete pipe producers to provide precast concrete drainage product pricing information.

In addition, the TRE may be in attendance at major B.C. trade shows, conventions, summits, and small education events on behalf of concrete pipe producers. The TRE will be available through the marketing and engineering departments of local concrete pipe producers to assist with projects requiring specialized industry personnel.

The engineer is also available to review CAD drawings in relation to engineering and sewer/culvert design perspectives, and oversee the editing of engineering drawings.
